Tuscarora Legends

The Tuscarora Council has a proud history of Scouting that dates back over a century. We are fortunate to have such a history thanks to those who have given generously of their time, talent and resources. These enduring contributions are the backbone of our current successes and have helped countless Scouts.  
The council would like to begin honoring these giants of Scouting, all who have assisted well above and beyond with a “TUSCARORA LEGENDS” award. This long overdue award is one we hope will help shine a light on the accomplishments and dedication of our adult Scouters. These Legends have significantly influenced and contributed to the vision, helped guide the direction and provide the resources required. We will begin by honoring three Legends per year and show our gratitude to those who have paved the way. Anyone may be nominated but we would like to have a minimum of one nominee that is no longer with us.

Below are the current requirements:

  1. Outstanding adult Scouters who have demonstrated a passion and commitment to having served the Tuscarora Council in a manner that greatly exceeds normal service. S

  2. Scouter who served at the unit, district or council level. 

  3. Scouters who have built an enduring legacy to Scouting.

  4. Scouter that has demonstrated and reinforced the Scout Oath & Scout Law.

  5. A registered member must write and submit a recommendation letter illustrating what the nominee has accomplished for the Tuscarora Council. 

  6. Scouter cannot submit his own nomination. 

  7. Nominations are open to all Scouters who have passed on, continue to help today or anywhere in between. 

  8. A “Tuscarora Legends” committee will then review and select the recipients.

  9. All recipients will be honored at the council banquet. For those who are no longer with us, family will be invited to receive the award. 

While this award is long overdue, we hope to shine a light on those responsible for making the council what it is today. There will be a large plaque designed, engraved and dedicated to our “TUSCARORA LEGENDS”. This plaque will hang with our current history items in the council office. All nominations need to be written and submitted before December 31.
