Scouting For Food 2025

Together. We can make a difference

What is "Scouting for Food?"

Scouting for food is a Scout led food drive, adopted by the National Organization with the goal of Feeding the hungry in our communities

When will it take place?

This will become an annual council event encommpassing the entire month of March. We ask Scouts to blanket our communities in uniform, collecting donated non-perishable food items. Storefronts are encouraged. When complete, please weigh, photograph and then deliver to a local food bank, pantry, church, etc...

Why should we participate?

As an organization, Scouting America teaches youth the value of helping others and giving back to their communities. By collecting food for people in need, Scouts are "doing a good turn" and "helping other people", key elements of the Scout Oath and Slogan

How does it work exactly?

Scout Units choose a time and day to canvas neighborhoods and collect food donations or you may choose to contact a store about setting up a donation at a local supermarket as a collection point from customers.

Once the food as been collected, you can take it to your local food bank. Please make sure to contact your food bank, church, etc... ahead of time to make a physical donation. Most have specific donation times so that they can be prepared to sort and unload

This year, families in our community need more support than ever. Since March 2020, food demands at local pantries and food banks have increased by 50%. You can help today!
